Has anyone tried installing one of those dashpads. They say 70% coverage. They sure look like they would work, and you can't beat the price compared to a replacement. Would like opinions? I dont have a choice as mine has really gone downhill fast. It didnt look that bad till I got the car back from the paint shop! now every little flaw is magnified!

I got a cap from Mike's last year for a buddy's car. I ended up finding a crack free dash at a great price so we didn't use it but I did open the box and placed the cap over the old dash, the fitment was great IMO, fit like a glove, much better than the older dash caps from years past.

You will need to trim the area around the radio opening to make the fit better but that shouldn't be hard to do at all. I wouldn't hesitate to use one again.

Thanks guys, I wanted to do a all black interior without painting anything like dash or door panels etc (still have to find a couple pieces though).. and the caps came in black so I figured I'd give it a try and really glad I did..

Thanks MC4Ever. I really like that look. I have ordered my cap from Mikes. I have also thought of just going black as I am concerned about the paint holding up. But I will hopefully post some before4 and after pics on here for anyone else that is wondering how it looks.

I got one too. Any install notes from you guys that have done one? Did you use spray glue or tape?

Some dis assembly may be necessary, such as the doghouse and steering and radio covers. Took off glovebox and painted to match.
pulled out the top speakers.[paint around speaker openings on old dash]
Make sure you clean the old dash really well. (I used prepsol after soap and water)!
Use plenty of books to hold down the flat across the top!
I used liquid nails and 3M weatherstrip adhesive and plenty of those plastic clamps to keep all edges tight.
Also some trimming may be needed around the radio opening and minor other places (use a sharp razor knife)!
Let dry 24 hours before using or re assembly.

Excellent. I have a couple of tubes of 3M weatherstrip adhesive - that stuff is tenacious. I also have 3M spray glue that I used for my headliner. Books huh, hmm, I have plenty of magazines... Clamps I have too.

So, the whole gauge cluster has to come off?! That doesn't sound too easy.

Thanks for the advice.

Dash was 89.00, I also ordered 2 cans of paint with it. Mike suggested this paint as it is a closer match to the grey than the presidio grey. Total with shipping was 177.00. But I am in Houston and I'm sure the shipping will be different to Wi. Shipping ran me 50.00.
