I'm looking at redoing my interior all black this winter, and while one of the vendors on here has some really nice stuff (I'm definitely planning on purchasing his door panels), I'm not sure if I want to drop a good amount of money on custom black vinyl seat skins seeing as I'm not really happy with how supportive the stock SS buckets are in the first place.

My other car has really supportive seats that I really like, and I'd like to have something similar for the Monte.

Link to a picture of my amazing ricer seats in my DD:
http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y277/SSninja/V4%20seat%20install/DSC_0291.jpg
(Not for overweight people as they're very snug, I might add lmao )

I found these on Summit Racing:
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SCA-80-1000-51L/All/

The brackets needed:
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SCA-81182/

At about $400 a seat they're a little more expensive than buying new seat upholstery (Although not much more), but they also look much more supportive.

Has anyone tried them before? If so, any comments?

I was planning on using either Rally or Elite Scat seats but unfortunately my project is way behind so I'm not to that point yet...

There is at least one member here using them but I forget who. These are some pictures that they posted and I saved.

Only complaint I have seen with Scat seats in general is that sometimes the brackets make the seat sit too high and people end up fabbing their own. If you do end up using the Scat brackets let me know how they end up fitting.

At that price you should get some gto seats, g8 seats are also very nice... m3 seats also.

I found the member: FE3XCLONE

I sent him a PM about the seats, and I'll post back with his comments once I get them. I'm planning on using their brackets so Iíll let you know how that works out.

The GTO and G8 seats look nice, but I think they'll be really heavy compared to the Scat seats considering that they're power (I think heated as well). Plus, from what I've read in Lance's thread on his GTO seats they require a good amount of work to fit, while the Scat seats are claimed to be a bolt-in with their brackets.

Still, I'd consider them if I found an inexpensive set. Seems like the nice ones go for a little under a grand shipped on ebay.

Camaro seats from a local salvage yard, black leather, 100 to 150 bucks, switch monte brackets and go? They're not really heavy if you get the non power ones, and are pretty supportive. Just looked em up on www.car-part.com a pair of grey leather in vermont, 250 bucks. Non power, and yeah I know grey, but they have black on there as well. just make sure to look for all that interchange (93-02) and you'll see, better prices means more money for carpet and go fast parts eh?

The summit ones feel good, I got to sit in a few while I was down in GA, really nice fit to them, but kinda pricey for the feel of the quality on them.

I hear you on saving money for more performance stuff, but Iíve sat in several different types of F-body seats and they just donít do it for meÖ.not a huge fan of the shape of them, and theyíre not as supportive as Iíd like. Thanks for the suggestion, though! beer

I also found a slightly cheaper and more modern looking seat from Scat:

http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SCA-80-1100-51L/

Any opinions on these versus the rally?

http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SCA-80-1000-51L/All/

The elite is about $40 cheaper per seat.

Those are the seats I have in my car
the only thing I do not like is that they do not have a one button tilt and slide.

Did you end up using their brackets? How's the seat height? I've heard that the height is adjustable, which is nice.

I've only got about $1000 in my seats total...and that includes the upholstery work. Best $1000 I've spent on the car by far. It's like driving a completely different car sitting in them.

Don't compromise where you butt meets the car... wink

I know someone that can help you out with the brackets if you want to morph some GTO seats in to your Monte, all of the hard work has been done already.

Yup, I've seen both front and rear seats for $600 + $100-150
shipping. It's more work, but the results... well look at lance's car!!!

Wait, you drive a STI? Why get rid of those seats? The only reason I would change them is when you race they have no real support. But for a stocker there fine...

Nah, I'm looking for seats for my Monte that are similar in terms of support to the ones I have in my Subaru. Those seats hold you in place like you owe them money. smile

Those are tempting, but I think I'd want to go with the set in fake leather (Although I don't know how well they'd hold up) as I was planning on redoing my seats in black leather or vinyl:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2-New-Syn...n%3D5%26ps%3D63

Still, I don't know how they'd look in a Monte. While the Procar Rally 1000 seats are expensive, people seem to love them and have commented that they're of high quality. Plus, they have a little more of an old school look to them.

They give measurements and if they are about the same size as a stock seat I think they'd look good. The procar seem really big, but they do look nice.. the ought to be for 400 a pop!

Yes I used the ProCar seat brackets. The height adjustment is in the way of 3 mounting holes in the bracket so you have about 2" of adjustment IIRC.
