Alabamians can rejoice! We now have a decent car tag available! I absolutely hated our standard state tags. They were hideous and embarrassing to me and they look really bad on any vehicle.

I just spotted this one on the state website and purchased one for my SS! I usually purchase an Auburn Collegiate plate, but this year, I wanted something that no one around here has yet. Check this out. This is what mine will look like!

Todd,

Yes, much better than my friends tag when he lived in Bam.

The color will go great with your ride.

Those are nice.
In Colorado you can get a tag made for what ever group you belong to as long you can guarantee
2500 in sales, we have over 150 diffferent desings from all the colleges in the state to all branches of the miltary and police and firefighters and even every county, if is kind of cool but gets confusing.

Ours are pretty plain here in Ontario - blue on white. They have several logos you can get on them now (anything to make a buck). I kind of like plain though for a license plate (and its not something I want to spend the $2-300 I think it is here). That is pretty neat plate though.

The ones I feel sorry for are people that live in states where they have some silly colour like yellow or green - that looks horrible on any vehicle.

Also, just curious - why do they call them "tags" in the US? When I hear tag I think price sticker or label. Does it come from having to buy a renewal tag/sticker for the plate itself? (or do you guys still get a new plate every year?)

85_SS - I think what they are called in the US is regional, like many things. I have never referred to them as "tags". I and everyone around me have always called them license plates.

That's not to say that one way of calling them is any more correct than any other. To each his own.

True - no different than soda as opposed to pop I guess - I was just curious if it comes from the renewal sticker, if that applies. To me that is more what I would call a tag. Just a little regional lingo thing I guess \:D

This is what I call "HORRIBLE!!!" These are the standard issue license plates for Alabama. They are even worse in person!GROSS!

In my area we have plates... and speaking of plates, the one in that first picture is very sharp! \:\)

Tell me about it; here, in Mississippi, our tags/plates are green *and* yellow.

Yeah! No argument here! Kinda makes you wonder who the hell designs these things, doesn't it! They can't be car people!

Nope. The only thing those plates match are NY taxis. Let me tell you, they can almost make a Z-71 look bad. I'll have to get specialty plates for the SS if/when I bring it up.

A little off the subject, but while I was bored I found this site:

http://www.15q.net/usindex.html

It has all US plates from 1969- to pres. Check it out.

Yeah, that was what we had until 2003 when we got the really gay looking plates. I have a couple of those hanging on my office wall in the garage. I thought I was going to barf when I saw that design. Now looking back, those aren't so bad compared to what we have today.
