3rd generation Camaro rear plate holder that stays down when fueling unlike the factory Monte piece.Screws/plastic inserts one left off for mounting black finger hook, Round file for making holes slightly larger on plate, 10mm socket, extension, ratchet Bare(old one in garbage can)don't over tighten screws on the black plastic housing Lower longer screws used, leave loose for alignment once plate is installed One white plastic insert left out of the square cut hole with black finger hook between plate and mount, fold up and align visually, fold back down when aligned and snug tighten lower screws. Besides gas prices and fuel consumption you should enjoy fueling up again, set gas cap on plate holder when down, no more spring loaded plate holder.

Not all 3rd gens had the fuel door under the license plate. My 85 T/A had the filler door in the drivers 1/4 panel. I beleive thats what Sid was refeering too. All 3rd gens had the fuel door in the quarter panel - it's the rear hatch lock/release that was under the license plate (which makes you wonder why they had the stay down plate holder??).

I did mine a couple of years ago using one from an 80's caprice. Had to be around 86-89 since I used to have an 87 and it looked the same as the original one on the SS.

I changed mine a number of years ago. It is a definite necessity. But I thought I got mine from a G-body cousin of ours...a Cutlass or Regal. I could be wrong, though...swapped mine 5 years ago.
