Ive got my frame all free of everything ready to be cleaned up and was wondering what other effective options I may have aside from sandblasting to get it cleaned up. Thanks.

I lay under my car for 4 months slowly scrubbing the wax, dirt, tar and undercoating from the frame with lacquer thinner and rags.
Everything is shot with gloss black rattle can now, looks great.

I did the same but with an angle grinder and a wire wheel. It sucked majorly. If I had the frame separated from the body I would spend the money to just get it blasted, it will be worth it.

^^x2 on sandblasting if you can.
I did the front engine area, firewall and frame, a-arms, etc with drill and wire-wheel, it came out fantastic, but if you can sandblast it would take a TON less effort.
I did mine with body on frame. Solvents did not help but to clean the wire wheel, which really cut thru the crud nicely, just it is a real messy job.
SSLance will probabyl chime in, he did his full underbody frame on resto, and has a ton of nice pics.

Looks like I'll just spend the 150 on the sandblasting to have it done quickly and easily. Thanks guys

I did my engine bay with a wire wheel and degreasers it was a pint but well worth it
If you can get it sand blasted for 150 I say go for it, but I would see if you can have it done wit hsome thind other that actual sand. Sand and really pit the metal there are bunch of products on market to substute for sand, sand is just too abrasive

they have a new system that uses baking soda and wont pit the metal at all you can do body panels and it wont even harm them and its supposedly not as messy as sand
