I am sure you could make it work but IIRC it is not rated as taking very much Hp or Tq.

You'd hate it more than a auto.
I hate auto's and have my first and with a shift kit, its not bad.
The problem you'd see with the tranny from the S series is that its a truck tranny. First 2 gears are geared to pull something and would be lousy with the Monte.
I've owned 5 S series vehicles, all standards and swapped the last 2 out because of the gearing within.

As mentioned - you could make it work, but I would highly recommend against it. Even the V8 World Class T5's aren't all THAT strong. Anything less than at least a V8 T5 is just asking for trouble IMO.

It would have to be from a 4.3L V6 for it to work. The 4 bangers have different bellhousings.
