Look into Bowtie overdrives trannys. They are nice quality pieces.
They have a website, something like http://www.bowtieoverdrives.com

most local idiots cant build an overdrive tranny to save their butts. save your money and get a well built tranny.

Well a few thoughts. First, making a car wait for a week after getting an appointment is ridiculous. Second, I would contact Mike Kurtz or Eric (forgot last name) for a tranny. Agreed that most local shmoes have no idea on overdrive tranny's. That price is more than a high-quality rebuild by the above...

No matter what you would have to pay for his labor to pull the tranny. He is not required to give any warranty. When you say "its done" I assume you mean he performed the rebuild? Did you sign a contract? If you made a contract (including oral) he is holding an artisan's lien on the car which is effective as long as he remains in possession of your car. Depending on the terms he may be able to keep and sell elsewhere and you just have to pay the difference. Let me know the details...

Oral contracts are not legally binding. Most states have a thing that says the shop must have a signed agreement when the fee goes over a certain estimate(which was also agreed upon). If he doesn't have that, to be equitable, pay him for his standard shop labor rate for no more than 3 hours for removal and review which was the agreement.

Plenty of guys warranty "hotrod" trannys but sounds like this guy wont because he is buying a bulk overhaul kit for a stock rebuild which wont hold up.

Draxx, I really feel badly for you and if you would consider listening to me this old man would like to offer you a little advice. It's obvious that you and the shop owner have a lot of emotion invested in this situation and the two of you coming face to face starts raising the blood pressure. Don't you have a relative or trusted friend that could negotiate with the shop owner (without you being there)?

where u at in KC? This is complete BS What shop is it so I can warn my local buddys? If he knows it's a hotrod then why would he put $hit parts in it and then not offer any warranty? Sounds like most of the local places! 816-483-7337 , Is the phone number to A & Reds transmission parts. I would get a hold of them and ask questions!!! They walked me through diagnosing the first tranny I rebuilt! 1600$ to rebuild a 700r-4 , pardon my anger but that is BULL$HIT!!! Sorry if I offended anyone! Takes me after only building 6 th-350's about 1 hour teardown , 45 min inspecting and diagnosing and roughly 3 to 4 hours putting it back togehter! even at 100/hour labor for 6 hours plus 2-300$ in parts would be less than 1000$. This guy is definatly a schiester! It cost me , with trashing the intermediate sprag , new thrust washers and a shift kit less than 200$ in parts for mine. The routine rebuild before the 327 cost me 94$ for parts! Do what you can to get your ride back and be sure to tell everyone not to go near this A$$HOLE! I'm usually not this vulgar but I think of you guys on here as kinda an extended family i never see and nothing is worse then screwing over or messing with family!!!!!!!! E-mail me If you need more info/help!!!!!! I'll do whatever I can to help you!!! GL!!!!!!!!! sorry to post so long.

Worked over small journal 327,Turbo 350,3200 10" stall,Aerocoupe spoiler,A pillar gauge pod,no cats,dual 40's.Coming soon:Powertrax lock rite,Drag lites,1/4's,bumpers and paint!Giving the turbo 350 one more shot.I work for Honda,they help me buy my Chevy parts smile

You know what would really freak out this shop Owner, is if we all called his shop from all over the U.S. and told him to give Draxx his car back. It is f-d up when people try to pull this sh*t, I have not experienced this personally because I have never had any of my cars in any shop other then my own. But if someone tried to pull this kind of BS on me I would lose it!

I have a question...... this guy put your car together, damaged your gas tank.. you filed suit against him for that and won.. and you took your car back to him??? he's getting even!.. I'd be very concerned what is going to happen to your car while in his possession.. this could very well turn ugly. when you get your car, do not drive it.. have it towed home, or to another shop you trust, and trust well. there is no telling the things that can be done to a car that would make it self destruct without it being associated to this guy's shop.. we've all jokingly mentioned things to do to cars to make them detonate.. well nobody better than a mechanic knows them all too... that's why I do all my own work, or have friends in certain fields that i'm not all that great in help out with stuff that i'm unsure of.. good luck with this situation, but i'd honestly get my car back asap, and have it all checked over before driving it...

Beachbum is right, it sounds like this guy is someone that should not be in business and is very emotional.. people like this tend to carry grudges and he might want to put something in the gastank, crankcase, etc.
Also as mentioned, why did you take it back to him after filing a claim against him and winning?
Good luck!

First off, Sorry to hear about your stuation.

However, you said in an earlier post,

" I'm on my way to this appointment as we're speaking...and so I tell him to go ahead and do it...park it inside tonight...and I'll work it all out tonight and come in tomorrow."

I know that you were short on time and put on the spot, but it sounds to me like you gave him the go ahead to fix it.

I would say pay him and get that car outa there. Then take him to court if you like.

GL....Bill
