I got into the Monte this morning and noticed that I had a "more" windshield to look through. I then looked down and found the rear view mirror sitting on the passenger side floor.

It seems the glue that holds it up just gave out. Any suggestions about which glue/adhesive to use to put it back on with?

Thanks!

RW, Mine's one better. I was adjusting mine last week and it came off in my hand. My 18 month old was strapped in the back seat and he just started laughin at me.

I just bought the middle of the road stuff at the store. I'll be putting it back on some time this week in the morning, got a little lazy this weekend and didn't want to put it back in.

I'm planning on moving it up about 1-2 inches so it's mounted higher up on the windshield, might give me a little more viewing area.

Thanks everybody for the helpfull advice. I needed a quick fix so I could get to work this morning, so I made an early trip to the local Autozone (I was their first customer of the day!) and picked up a tube of the Permatex rear view mirror adheasive for $2.

It took about 20 minutes start to finish. Used a Torx20 screwdrive to remove the button from the mirror assembly. I marked the spot on the windshield to mount the button and then used a razor to remove the old adheasive from the windshield and then cleaned the area. Applied the catalyst to the windsheild and the glue to the button and held it in place for a minute or so. I let it set for 10-15 minutes and then mounted the mirror assembly. It still up this evening! If it comes down again, I'll try something stronger.
