Problem with lengths at the track is traction. If your not at the correct starting line youre screwed. Also can be real dangerous for the starter. I'm very surprised the track lets them do it.

Your absolutely right.. Thats why I don't street race, the cheating is out of control (Plus its dangerous, and where i come from, if you're caught racing on the street, you get charged with attempted murder)... Thats also a good point about your starting point i forgot to bring up.. You think your getting an advantage by getting a head start, but theres no starting traction at the 60' mark....

That's a good point about starting position, your always trying to find the sweet spot to get max traction - I never even thought about that!!

Has anyone noticed how skewed the lengths idea is? A length at the finish is NOT equal to a length at the start.

Well i street race all the time and watch them all the time on friday and saturday nights. And the whole point of lengiths is to make it fair so the other dude dont cry like a little girl iam not gonna do it in need 5 and the go or we aint doing nothing... Them we get him down to prolly 2.5 and the go or the go = 2 cars so 4 no go. Then he does it and either he wins or he dont... DPoint blank we have fun and he will prolly come back with the rest of us prolly about 150-250 people. So aparently noone knows on here what iam talking about except for a few people and they know who they are cuzz they are for leingths. So aparently the other ones will be the ones watching or the will be crying for cars...

Yep thats me getting in on driver side gonna burn sum rubber!

Street racing is pretty dumb - we all have done it though. It's only a matter of time before you or someone you know get caught or hurt - it happens to everyone.

A race track is a controlled enviroment that protects everyone involved by enforcing safety rules. Why wouldn't you want to drag race legally?

I mean - this post will probably be shut down for mentioning it - what does that tell you?

At a bracket race - you don't get lengths, you get a handicapped time and a tree that doesn't care who you are. It's as fair as you get..

Bracket racing is pretty cool. But you have to know your stuff. You cant 'break out' (run faster than the time you put on your car) and you have to be very consistant at the light. The only drawback is that you always see guy with the rusty, stock '75 Malabu always wins because his car will run 18 seconds everytime and all he does is plant his foot when the light turns green. Some dragstrips ban these guys and rightfully so.
Now on the other hand I had a buddy when I lived in NY that used to street race (going back about 15+ years ago)in Brooklyn, dont remember exactly where, with a blue '70 Chevelle. The car was basicly a racecar on street tires. He used to video his runs. Saw him beat a motocycle streight up. Crazy stuff but very dangerous.

There are alot of things to think about in bracket racing - and he/she who knows his car and is consistent will win.

If the 18s 'Bu waits until they see green - they better hope I break out cause I'm gone on the last yellow!! And I'm not going to beat him by 2 car lengths.. If I'm 1/2 a car length ahead and about to cross the ET trap, I'm on the brakes!! If I pass them at 1/2 track, I'm on and off the gas, just staying 2 cars ahead.

The only game I find really hard is when your opponent is spraying their way past you. When I'm up against one of those guys - I dial my car in hard and hold it right through and make them breakout.

It's all good - 12's should be a thing of the past this year coming, and I might just have a few pics with the front end in the air!!

Won't get to race as often this year though - buying a house can seriously tap your fun money!!

G is just having fun!!
