I finally got time to take a few new pictures of my car. I still have some wire cleanup to do under the hood so it won't look so trashy. I got the new springs and spindles on it yesterday. Lowered it 2 inches in the front and one in the rear. My son made me a custom carbon fiber console lid but the pic doesn't do it justice. It looks lighter in the middle than on the ends. It's not like that when you can really see it. Some of the pictures are not as plain as they should be. My wifes digital camera sucks and mine is at work right now.

Larry,
My 8 year old daughter was looking over my shoulder at the picture of your engine. I said isn't that awesome? Her reply was "No, it looks dangerous." I guess that means you better be careful.

Thanks everyone. I wanted it to look completly stock on the outside, except for the cowl hood, but be anything but stock when it really counts. I don't know whats up with my wifes camera. Some of the pictures, like the interior are plain and some are terrible. I have a bunch that I took with my 35mm that I know will be better. I have the stripe kit for it but am waiting until I am satisfied with the paint before I put them on. I can hardely wait for Nashville in June.

I got the car last May and worked on the body, rearend, and interior all summer. I got the engine in November but for 6 more weeks after that I worked 72 hours a week, so the that slowed me down a lot. I have had quite a bit of help from my oldest son, otherwise, it wouldn't be done now.

WEll, I came home from work today and changed the water pump, but know it's more slight problems. Apparently my fuel tank must have had some crap in it. It ran for two minutes tonight and then died. The filter is so stopped up that no fuel gets to thr regulator. The pump will pressure up and shut off, like it's supposed to, so now I get to change the filter. I think I'll get two spares. It looks like I might be needing them.

Very nice, did you fabricate you own mounts for the LS1 install ? Also what exhaust/hedders did you use ?

I got the universal LS1 mounts at http://www.carshopinc.com/. The have poly bushings in the part that welds to the frame so there won't be much movement. I used Patriot Clipster headers, made for a BBC, and reworked 3 tubes on each side to match the LS1 flanges. I got the flanges on ebay, from a guy that ordered the wrong thing, for $23.

My oldest son used to work at Tim Mcamis Race Cars, in Missouri, building Pro-Mod carbon fiber race car bodies. We hand built a mold for the console lid using my busted lid as a pattern. The lid mounts with two short pieces of piano hinge and short screws. Carbon fiber is expensive and harder to work with than fiberglass. We started making a mold for fiberglass consoles using my spare one as a mold plug, but that project is on hold for now

What about the less expensive carbon fiber sheets that I could cover an existing piece of trim with? Dash trim, shifter plate, etc??

There is no such thing as less expensive carbon fiber. The cloth alone is around $36 a yard. Fiberglass cloth is less than $8 if that gives you an idea. You also have to use different activator for the carbon which is not cheap. I probably have 30 dollars in material in just the console lid. Everything about carbon is more expensive and made for just that.

So that carbon fiber overlay stuff I see on the internet isn't very realistic looking?
