Been on this forum a ton back in its infancy and just getting back to messing with me G-body again (been sitting in storage forever, finalyl have time for it) was looking at stock appearing headunits, anyone ever mess with the retro sound stuff? Not the cheapest thing out there but keeps a period look and lets you have blue tooth and all the other goodies, what I'm looking at... https://www.retromanufacturing.com/...-direct-fit-radio?variant=41039452536988https://www.retromanufacturing.com/products/1985-88-chevrolet-monte-carlo-new-york-1-5-din-direct-fit-radio?rq=yr_1986~mk_chevrolet~md_monte-carlo curious on any opinions from the hive mind here...

If you go over to www.chevelles.com, you'll see that many there that purchased Retrosound units have had lots of trouble with them, good luck!

There are folks in this space you have had jacks for their phones added for reasonable cost to the OE head units. Other upscale GM 1.5 DIN head units with equalizers (and maybe CD rather than cassette) if I recall correctly. Some threads last year on this elsewhere on this site if you search. Guidance and wisdom from others???? Gordon

I have the Retrosound Newport and did have a failure approx. a year after install. Retrosound did send a warranty replacement and that unit has been trouble free. I like the features and the look.

Is the car you intend to install a headunit in an 86 Aero Coupe? Bob correct, its more pro-touring/resto-mod focused but wanted something that keeps the period correct look of the car... saw a few issues with the volume knobs on the earlier units but nothing on the updated stuff, was hoping they sorted it all out...

I've had a Retrosound unit in both my SS and wagon since 2020 and they are different models but no problems with either.
