Would anyone know what the fitting next to the distributor on the intake is for?it’s not the oil sender unit that’s on the side of the block This has a wire harness connector on it. Would appreciate it. Thanks John

Likely its the external ignition coil. 87 and 88 don't use coil in cap HEI.

It's for coolant to circulate out of the rear of the head and into the heater hose to make sure that their are no air pockets. Is there a small hose connected to it or is it capped??

The coil was bolted to the manifold. I changed the distributor to HEI type it had nothing to do with this item I’m referencing.

The only thing that I can think of in that area with a electrical connector on it and not associated with the distributor is the oil pressure switch. On Monte SS, it shares a circuit with the choke coil. Before I did my TPI conversion I had to determine what that circuit was for and if I needed it for TPI. The oil pressure switch there on the Monte prevents the electric choke from heating up with the key on-engine off. That way the electric choke only heats up when the engine is running.
