Getting bored with how my ride looks. Thinking of going Nascar replica on the outside and 50/50 on inside. Not full race inside but part way there. I figure the tinted windows would hid most of the creature comforts. Cant decide which one to replicate. I know it would be easier to do a black and silver 3 car, but if I do this I want to stand out. Crazy or not?

I like the tribute car idea but I think it can become dated quickly. Like the Wrangler car done here, i like it but would be nice to see it go through different themes.
A wrap would be the way to go, tired of it, get it removed. Have seen many nicely done wraps, hard to tell if it's paint or not until you look close.

Interior is always a personal thing, If it means roll bar, harness, race seats, a bunch of red toggle switches, that personal taste, or race necessity. Me I like the wolf in sheep's clothing motif.

Never been a fan of the tribute cars. Look good just not my thing. Find a color you like and change it. I usually look at the new car colors and think some of them would look good on the Monte's.

I wouldn't touch it, I like the stock look. I've had my car for 31 years and still think it's a cool looking car!

What about magnets? Wraps need near perfect body work to look good. Thinking about my car only, I know my body isn't perfect and id hate to do something on top of the original paint that messes it up more (I have bubbles on the spoiler and thin spots ok the passenger door where primer is starting to seep thru). Magnets could be removed easy enough. Personally, I wouldnt do a Dale car.. Too many fans out there. I'd do a lesser known guy just to keep the rarity factor high. Say a black and white Ernie Irvine 56 car

Part of me says freshen up the paint and put the stripes back on. Part of me says new color. Part of me says replica ( not a black 3 car just becasue a have seen a few of those). Its a fun quick car with the 6.0, but it needs something to move my soul again. I love red, but cant do that as the wife's Cougar is red.

I just want it to stand out more when sitting still.

FWIW.....not a fan of the replica cars. They get old really really fast IMO. I do like the Monte in red. Mine is silver which I'm not crazy about. Been contemplating a darker blue metalic pearl for years. There are so many nice colors out there now. But since my car has original 14K paint I can't seem to do it. I've owned the car 22 years so I know the feeling of doing something different to it to keep up the enthusiasim.

Few years ago painted an 89 Squarebody Crewcab a dark silver metallic Very dark in some angles. Was an awesome color and is my first paint choice now if going regular. I do miss the red stripes, but then Id have to get N90s and the list wouldn't stop till I widened them to fit bigger rubber.

I know what would light your fire for it once again. laugh I'll send you a parts list to install to make it handle better than a C5 Corvette.

Once you make it really fun to drive you'll love it way more than a pretty car you are scared to get dirty...

I'm one of those 56 views without a comment.
I like the tribute cars, but I wouldn't do one myself, I imagine I'd get tired of it after a while.
I really like the dark colors that are *almost* black but not quite. I was looking into a really deep metallic black cherry color, with slightly redder (maybe just more metallic?) rally stripes so that it looks black under low light but you can see the stripes and the color when the sun hits it. But then I decided on brown with brown stripes, so my advice on appearance is probably not all that valid... dunno

Regarding looks...personally, I really only like the OEM styles and colors on these cars.

It is very rare that I see a G body that has veered from the factory look that really tickles my fancy.

Personally, I would not do it. Im like sslance I like them in their original look and colors. I have seen a few done well and they definitely look good. I also have seen some horrible nascar replicas.

Kinda in the same boat. Have to get the car painted before I can put it back on the road and not sure if I'll go back jet black, or with a custom mix (that looks black except at certain angles). Thought about widening some N90s myself for a while, but never remotely considered a tribute replica. However, there was a while there (soon after buying the car in 1985) that I was thinking about adding ground effects - painting them silver (black car, gray interior) and putting silver IROC SS door stickers on it. Decided on putting the money in a 406 short block and haven't looked back!

I'm keeping everything original as original as possible as well. For the new cars, I prefer to de-chrome them.
