Hello everyone, I made a rookie mistake and did not note the location of every vacuum line on my 84 SS. It is all original with all the smog still on it. Below are (3) lines/openings I have not clue where they go. I found the smog emissions/vacuum line routings but no of these are seen.

1. On the back of carberator (Rochester) right below and towards the passenger side on the big line that goes to the brake booster there is a small nipple, what does that connect to?

2. On the back of the intake, there a threaded "nipple" with (2) outlets. The outlet going straight up I know goes down to the transmission, however the second outlet again no clue where it goes to.

3. From underneath the brake booster there is a bundle of wiring harness & out of that there is what looks like a vacuum line, again don't know where this goes. I think it's for the cruise control which I dont have but maybe someone can confirm.

Thanks in advance.

The little barb on the base of the carb is for the vacuum sensor. The second barb on the intake fitting is for the HVAC.

Thanks for the help Buick Runner!

Now, lets pretend for a second I have no clue what the vacuum sensor or the HVAC are or what they look like, where do I find them?

For the Vacuum Sensor, are you referring to the (2) that are threaded on the thermostat housing? If so which one? The one on the driver side is all black & the passenger side one has a green top & does it go on the top or bottom barb.

For the HVAC, is there another line I don't see/haven't found coming from the heater core area?

Thanks again in advance.

The vacuum sensor is a black retangular plastic box with a barb pointing downwards. It will have 3 wires going into it. On 84s it should be mounted on the passenger side inner fender. In 85, they moved the vacuum sensor to the intake manifold. The second barb on that intake manifold fitting may have plugged into the cruise control system which in turn likely had a plastic tee to the HVAC.

Thanks Runner. I will take a look. For the HVAC, I found on a black round “valve” that is hooked inline with the heater core lines so I think that’s where that one goes. Thanks for the help!

For clarification I knew what HVAC stood for.. just didn’t know where to look for that small barb to make the connection!
