Just out of curiosity has anyone used this? I've been looking for a way to look at data live on the ccc. Ive tried to locate a brainmaster 3257 or 3258 with no luck. The app seems to have good reviews also. Also I've tried looking for obd1 scanners with live data. The one that hooks to phone through bluetooth is $75. If you want it to do bluetooth and computer its $90. Also it says it supports the 1988 ccc 5.0 car in the downloads list above.

I said live data on the ccc but I meant all data from sensors to ecm.

The OP PM'd me on this. In case anyone else finds this thread, the only thing I have done in terms of ALDL data from the 1228079 ECM is to modify a USB <-> ALDL cable to cut the voltage so it doesn't overwhelm the Serial->USB adapter. Thread here. Pictures at the bottom.

If anyone is curious this the reply from the owner of 1320 electronics.

"Our Bluetooth adapters and USB cables work just fine with the CCC vehicles and 12 volts.  We have a buffer on the input line that is capable of interfacing to 12 volt signals.  You get the same data as with a Brainmaster, probably more.  I believe the Brainmasters only displayed the analog data, not the digital on/off signals; they relied on the user to just flash codes over the SES light.  Never was able to get my hands on a brainmaster.  The are pretty rare beasts."

Thank you for your reply bitflipper.

A few Brainmaster show up every once in a while for a fair price on Ebay. Bought mine 20 years ago there. As the model number of the Brainmaster goes up so does it capabilities. The 3250 is the one to have,
Been a few years since I used it on a friend's 84 SS but could never part with the 3250 and the nice plastic case. I would plug it in, drive the car, good info. Just a PITA trying to drive and toggle two rotary switches to change input data, with a stick shift. Other than that the 3250 is a good friend for a CCC system to have.

One of the things noticeable when streaming data from a CCC's dinosaur ECM is how slow it is. Oh how we have progressed.

If you go with the ALDL->USB cable approach, both ALDLDroid for Android and TunerPro for PC can display the digital signals for trouble codes etc. The cable cannot however handle the 12V signal, you need to build the voltage divider linked above in that case.
