CELEBRATING 20 YEARS!

Hi looking for the Pros and Cons, experiences, with the different manufacturers is one brand better than the other brand Triplus,Sherman, Keyparts, Restopart, Autometal Direct, Goodmark. Such as fit, quality, etc. I was told by a guy selling Triplus that Triplus sells to the other manufacturers and they just put their name on the box? Don’t know if that true.

I've heard a lot of good things about the fit and finish of the Goodmark hoods. I believe Sherman has gone out of business (so said Mike's Montes anyway). I'm not sure about a central supplier to all of them, but I guess that's possible. I currently have a Harwood cowl (fiberglass) which is good quality and fits well. I'm most likely going to sell it and buy a Goodmark though.

I think when it all comes down to it, Goodmark should be your first and last consideration unless a different company makes a particular style you're after. And me personally, I won't do aftermarket fiberglass hoods. Goodmark steel is top notch.

Goodmark on mine. I used a Chevelle air cleaner and Cowl Induction lettering on the cowl.

There was discussion years ago and it might of changed, but the same company/tooling in China was or likely was making the same hoods for Goodmark or whatever other brand at the time. So I wouldn't be surprised if it's the same thing with a different stamp/box. Both of mine are Goodmark and fit well as they are supposed to, maybe Mike can chime in or give him a call since I'm sure he would know if that's still the case or not.

what are the dimensions of the Chevelle air cleaner and the seal? Just trying to see if it will fit under my setup.

Beware the the air flow through the cowl hood intake is severely limited by the small holes Goodmark has drill in the sheetmetal there. I forget the exact dimensions of the holes but there are like 94 .200" holes in that sheetmetal which works out to less than 3 square inch of inlet air. By comparison a 2" round hole has 3.1 square inch of area. So you are feeding the intake with smaller than a 2" pipe. If the holes are enlarged to say 3/8" that number will now be 11.11. That would be getting close to what a 4" round duct area would be.

All Goodmark hoods as far as I know have the small holes in the inlet to prevent trash from going into the air cleaner, per Goodmark sales rep. Only the 67-69 Goodmark Camaro hood has that area completely open to duplicate the original 1st Gen Camaro cowl hood. Some have removed that section of sheetmetal to open it up to max available air flow.

What are the dimensions of the Chevelle air cleaner set up? i made up a cowl induction cleaner with a cake pan i'm curious if the Chevelle rubber gasket/seal would fit on my cake pan.

I have a goodmark I bought a few years after buying the car. Took me a few years to get it painted and installed. No matter what I did, I could never get the gap accros the front consistent without losing the gap on the side. Stock hood fit pretty good. That being said, most of the ones I've seen fit pretty good.
