I have not done it, but think it could be easily done with something like this:

Or at the starter post where the battery cable connects, ground doesn't really matter as long as it's clean and tight, Good luck!!

I'd run it to the fuse box & connect it to a fused circuit.

If you are installing it directly in place of the cig lighter, you could clip those wires and use them (unless the car is otherwise clean enough to keep it all "Factory").
