Posted in eng section a few weeks ago that I had did a head swap (afr 912) & roller cam (lunati 20080721) & had a issue with the headers overlapping the ports. SS lance posted some great pics of the headers he used & got them to work well even though his heads have .25" raised ports. The afr heads I put on have raised ports also, but only .100 so should be easier to match the port. BAD SS recommended some 1 3/4 mid length header by DYNO DON & decided to go with those. Made to order so should arrive next month some time. Any one install Q.P. 9" rear end? Any feed back helpful, like does the drive shaft need to shortened? Hoping to get away with just using a conversion u joint. I had a 2.5" DOM steel shaft made awhile back. Also looking at PEM Racing 9" rears (ebay store) any feedback on them appreciated also. https://www.ebay.com/itm/1978-1987-G-Body-9-INCH-REAR-END-KIT-TRUE-TRAC-COMPLETE-WITHOUT-BRAKES/153524979413?hash=item23becd46d5:g:SlEAAOSwR7tc~7fj Wasn't going to do a rear swap, but went to Portland international raceway last Saturday & can see how the 7.5 could bite it at any time. Don't plan on doing a lot of runs, but it was to much fun once I dropped the air pressure to 15 psi & backed off to keep from smoking the tires at the light & got moving. 13.603 was the best run & know it could do better with some grip. Seems to be less traction on the track than on the street. Pulled hard all the way once it hooked up & has to get better after the ex. ports arn't restricted by the headers. Thanks for any input on a 9"

I have a QP 9" in my Monte. I just had another drive shaft made but that was because I swapped in an LS2/4L65e. I'm not sure how much longer, if any, it is than a the 200R4. I want to say mine was 51" or 52" from center cap of pinion yoke to center cap of transmission yoke. I also went with rear disk brakes...another can of worms! Lol

Thanks for the reply. On the brakes I think I'll stick with drums, stops good enough. I don't know if there ford backing plates or what, as long as I can connect the park cables.

Ive dealt with PEM on a lot of things, they were a supplier for driveline parts for Allstar when I worked there and have used their CTF axles, some quick change parts, and brake parts they have. Call them direct and ask for Randy.

When I build 9"s I get about half my parts from PEM and half from Quick. PEM for axles and odds n ends and the dif kit from QP

Off the top of my head I cannot answer your driveshaft question, google should help there.

Quick has options for backing plates (you can put the G body backing plate on if you want and re use all your drum parts from your existing rear) I dont think PEM has any other options besides a ford backing plate when doing drums. I would look into just using a cheap hat, 12in hat mount rotors, and some superlite or dynalite calipers and using a weld on mount from Allstar, A&A, or any other circle track company. You can have an $800 brake kit on the cheap, real cheap if you find the stuff used which isnt hard.

I have a QP 9" also.but also have a LS swap. Call Brydon at QP he might have that answer. I opted for the 11" drums and my park brake cables bolted right up. ( which is good as I have swapped to a TKO 600 now, lol).
