ride height looks good, now how is the ride quality ? what tire sizes are you currently using? any rubbing issues? just trying to figure out what works .

I would consider it but the roads are white from salt and covered in sand up here, we still have snow on the ground.

Solved my sway bar problem for now.

Used a stock f body rear bar and hardware, this ones from an ls1 car. I heated up the ends and straightened them out, and drilled 2 holes in the frame to mount the end links.

Not yet, but hopefully soon. we need some warm days and rain to wash the roads up here. Still have snow on the ground.

That bar should work fine (much better than stock!). It`s more or less a junkyard version of our Spohn and Hellwig link mounted rear bars we`ve had out for many years. One word of advice though, consider reinforcing the upper link mounting area on the cross member. That lower flange isn`t all that strong and with a single point of contact and no reinforcement we`ve always seen them stress crack over time.

Thanks for the advice Marcus. That good news that it should work better then the stocker, if it worked as good as the stock I would be fine with it. Hopefully next winter I can update to an aftermarket sway bar setup. Ill keep an eye on those mounting points also.

I forgot to ask about your rear wheel specs, back space , off set ,width? with my 17'' N-90 0n NITTO G555 ( 255/ 45) I can barley fit my finger between the frame and tire, I really need a wider patch with this new engine I am installing.

I really haven’t driven the car yet, went down the street and the shocks felt alright but I only have a couple miles on them.

I have 275/40r17 Mickey Thompson et street’s on the back, I believe the rims are 5” backspacing. 17x9.5”. They are pretty tight to the frame. Just put the stickiest tire on it that you can, I can still burn these drag radials through 4th gear with out trying too hard.

Tire to frame clearance in the rear is always something to keep an eye on. If you corner the car hard that clearance becomes less with roll, If you just cruise around less of a worry.

The section width of that Nitto 555 is 10.04 on an 8 1/2" wheel, not overly fat. If you wanted a little more clearance a hub concentric spacer and long enough wheel studs would increase that tight finger fit you have now.

Set up for me is an 8 1/2" rear, alum drums which have about a .100" thicker flange, a 10mm hub concentric spacer, ARP 2 1/2" studs. Tire is a BFG Comp 255/50x16 on a 16x8 zero offset, 4 7/16" backspacing. Three different size tires are used on the car. Along with the BFG 255's, Hoosier 275/45x16 A6s and Hoosier 11.5x27x15 GTP slicks all fit very nicely. The slicks are mounted on steel 15x8 rally wheels, 4" backspacing if I remember correctly.
Measured tire sizes.
BFG 255s are 10 3/8" section width, 26" tall
Hoosier 275s are 10 7/8" section width, 25 1/2" tall
Hossier 11.5s are 11 3/8" section width, 27" tall.

After a lot of measuring the 10mm spacer was made by these people. Excellent product, just wish they had offered anodizing when I got mine.
http://www.motorsport-tech.com/hub_rings.html

No frame notch, no mods to the quarter lips.

A can of satin black spray paint to touch up the tire touch on the frame will tell you everything you need to know about fit. Since doing the three tire fit a few years ago the only time a touch up was needed was after running the slicks. Hard left onto the return road, need to slow down a little and remember you only have 15 psi in the rear tires.
Bob

I never made it to the track this year, and most likely wont with the monte again. The coil overs ride nice though and I love the adjustabilty of the ride and ride height.

this past spring after getting the coil overs I actually bought a 98 camaro ss with a blown engine and a t56/moser 12 bolt. Ive been busy with gathering parts/building that car. I will post pics/updates this winter. I already sold all of the t56 and ls1 stuff out of it and am building an 11.5:1 forged 6.0 with cnc ls3 heads/fast intake, big ol' bumpstick and a 4l80e. This will be my car I take to the track from now on.

The gears in the monte are geared more towards anything other then long 80 mph high way drives, although those still wouldnt be bad with the 4.30's and double over drive.

Car looks good Jason, I agree use the Monte as a stout driver, that's my plan anyway.

Post up some F body pics in my sons Camaro lounge thread to help fill the gaps on my slow updates.

Regards,
Ron
