Hey everyone. Last year I bought my fist G-Body, an 88 White SS. I've been restoring it and now I have a weird wheels problem. It came with the 15 in rally wheels with no center caps. I finally bought them from Mike's Montes and only one fits.

It seems the clamp pattern is different on three wheels not compatible with the center cap.

What wheels do I actually have and is there something I can do to make them all the same. Or buying caps for the other three as long as they are they same.

I can't see your photos but I am guessing you might have three 1981 Camaro Z28 N90 wheels, very similar to the N90's used on the Monte Carlo. The Camaro wheels use different lug nuts and the center cap may not be the same. I could be wrong so someone with a higher rank will double check my reply. Welcome to the club.

an 88 doesn't use those wheels!

Correct, those steel rally wheels were 83-85 only.

the steel ring in the center needs to be turned so that the tabs go in between the lug nut holes ---those are 1985 S-10 blazer wheels

These are the style of wheels that your 1988 SS should be fitted with:

Are you sure that is an 88?
I don't see a third brakelight in your pic and those are the wheels from the first couple years of the SS

It has the aero door mirrors, so it's an '86 and newer.

I'd be surprised if he didn't check the VIN before buying and that he doesn't have insurance on it (they have to have the VIN as well).

Anyway, as Mike said those are probably the S10 rally wheels and have the cap retainer ring in the wrong position for the SS center caps. I'm pretty sure they look the same as the 83-85 steel wheels otherwise. The S10 wheels used open ended nuts and had the cap that was posted with the fake lug nuts to cover them.

The car does appear to not have a third brake light on the rear deck and has 1985/1986 MCSS door decals, but that doesn't mean anything. Can't tell for sure if the interior is gray or blue. If it's blue buckets with wood grain inserts on the inside, it could be an 84, or at least the interior from one. If it's gray with black inserts with gray surround trim and has a old double post single din type radio, could be an 85, or at least the interior from one.

Regardless, if it is an 88 or not, the car looks in pretty good shape but is screaming for a set of the 17" N90 aluminum wheels.

Its an 88 for sure and it is insured. It is missing its third brake light and the wheels are changed and all.

The interior is actually redone. Its all new and the graphics were there when I got them.

What sucks is that I cant just turn the clip. It has to be cut and rewelded which I can do at work.
