i have a bigblock chevy in my jeep.
it usually never gives me any trouble but lately its been acting up.
some times it will just crank and crank and not start.i def have fuel as its an electric fuelpump and I can see its getting gas.
this morning it did this again to me .I wiggled all of the wires going to the distributer thinking something was loose.
I tried about another 10 or 15 times to get it going but nothing.
I gave up and was about to go back in the house when I said lets try it one more time.
as soon as I turned it over it fired right up.
what do you think is going on?could it be the module in the dizzy?

If you have fuel I would definitely check the spark next. Will need a hand though. Remove a plug and crank over to check. And take it from there.

I would look into the connections going to the distributor.
Are you using an HEI with the coil in the cap?

I have power at the wire going into the coil(dist cap) with the key on.

the cap and rotor are cheap autozones about 2 yrs old.

ill replace those this weekend.

the dist is an accell about 3 yrs old.

I just want to rule out the module in the dizzy.

could that cause an intermittent problem?

aren't they usually just good or completely nothing?

once its running its fine with no problems at all its just random at startup usually after sitting a nite or more.

Could be an ignition switch problem.

When the non-starting problem exists does the motor catch a little and want to start or is it just cranking over?

If all else fails, I would suggest getting a GM distributor. Not that I have issues with Accel, but when it come to ignition, I would suggest staying with GM unless you have a race car.
