It's a Kubota L4600 4x4 with hydrostatic transmission. 46 HP no turbo though, if I stepped up too the 52 HP I would have the turbo.

But I really like it.

Well engine time is around the corner guys. I know I said I was going to buy a LSX 454 but I'm thinking to go with a smaller LS3. I have had a couple stroker LS3 engines and they do make good power. So I'm thinking to order the 418 CID 630HP engine here.

I'm thinking it will run half way decent?

What do you all think?

http://www.texas-speed.com/images/Product/large/3584.png

Texas Speed & Performance's turn-key engine packages are your solution for powerful, durable, and trouble-free late-model LSx power plants for your muscle car or hot rod! Each package is precision machined with state-of-the-art CNC equipment that allow for the strictest of tolerances, and every TSP engine is hand-assembled by experts that deal ONLY with LSx-based engines! All of our engine machining and assembly, as well as our cylinder head production, is in-house and NOT sourced out. All components in our engines are brand new parts, including the block, so you are not buying an engine that uses any remanufactured items! We are the only LSx-based company that digitizes and blueprints every engine block on a CNC machine to the factory GM specifications! Our turn-key packages are designed to provide our customers with a true drop-in engine that is ready to run! These are not stock crate engines that have been slightly modified. These are hand-built engines that have received the care and attention that you should expect when purchasing an engine! Our engines are built for strength, durability, and power, so your new TSP turn-key engine is ready for whatever you can throw at it!

The TSP 418 CID 630 HP LS3 Turn-Key Package will have a lopey idle and will require a minimum of a 2,800 RPM stall speed torque converter. This package will include the following items:

GM LS3/L92 Aluminum Engine Block
Texas Speed & Performance Forged 4340 4.00" Stroke Crankshaft
Texas Speed & Performance Forged 6.125" Connecting Rods
Wiseco 4.07" Forged Piston Set with Steel Top/Napier 2nd Ring Set
11.25:1 Compression Ratio
Precision Race Components 260cc LS3 Aftermarket Casting Cylinder Heads with TSP Dual Valve Spring Kit with PAC .660" Springs & Titanium Retainers
Texas Speed & Performance Custom-Grind Hydraulic-Roller Camshaft
Texas Speed & Performance Hardened Pushrods
GM Cylinder Head Bolts
Cometic MLS Cylinder Head Gaskets
GM Rocker Arms with Comp Cams Trunion Upgrade Kit
Stainless Steel Hardware: Intake Manifold Bolts, Timing Cover Bolts, Valley Cover Bolts, Water Pump Bolts, Thermostat Bolts, & Oil Pump Bolts
Texas Speed & Performance Billet Aluminum Center-Bolt Valve Covers
Remote Coil Pack Relocation Mounts for a Clean Look Under the Hood
GM Hot Rod Oil Pan Kit as Standard
Multiple Front Drive Systems to Choose From
GM LS3 Intake Manifold Assembly: Includes Manifold, Fuel Rail, Fuel Injectors, and GM LS3 Electronic Throttle Body
GM Throttle Pedal
Complete GM Sensors
GM Ignition Coil Packs
MSD Universal Cut-to-Fit LS1 Spark Plug Wire Kit
NGK Spark Plugs
Custom-Built Engine Wiring Harness Built Specific for Your Application (Can Include Necessary Wiring to Control An Electronic Transmission, Such as the 4L60E, 4L65E, 4L70E, and Even the 6-Speed Auto 6L80E For No Additional Charge!)
TSP Programmed ECM Specific for Your Setup (Automatic Trans Setups Will Include a Tuned TCM For No Additional Charge!)
GM Front Oxygen Sensors
GM Mass Air Flow Sensor
GM Starter
12 Quarts of Joe Gibbs Break-In Oil
AC Delco Oil Filter
GM Flywheel or Flexplate

All of the TSP turn-key engine packages will include a custom-built engine harness and a GM ECM to allow for full engine control and the best driving characteristics possible. Most other suppliers of turn-key engine packages will use out-of-date MEFI ECM's and harnesses that do NOT allow the engine to make fueling or timing changes when running, nor will they allow for any needed changes with varying altitude. The TSP turn-key engine packages will allow your engine to run and function exactly like a new car straight off of the production line! This will not only help the power output, but it will also help to maximize the fuel mileage! Our custom-built harnesses will also allow for full control of a GM's 4-speed overdrive 4L60E, 4L65E, and 4L70E electronically-controlled transmission. We can even set it up to control GM's six-speed automatic 6L80E transmission! We can have your harness custom-built to allow for transmission control, so you will not have to spend $1,200+ on a stand-alone transmission controller! The competition's MEFI ECM and harness does not have this capability.

All of our turn-key engine packages will come standard with the TSP billet aluminum valve covers with a coil pack relocation kit, and GM Hot Rod Oil Pan Kit. However, we do offer upgrades for all of these items, which are listed below in the drop-down menus. Let us know if you are looking for an item that is not listed, and we will be glad to provide you with a price! The aluminum coil pack relocation kit allows you to hide the ignition coil packs anywhere you would like under the hood, which provides you with a clean and uncluttered engine bay.

All Texas Speed & Performance turn-key engine packages will come standard with a one-year, unlimited-mile warranty as standard! This will require all tuning to be performed by us. We stand behind our work, and when you purchase a Texas Speed & Performance engine you are not only buying the parts but also the knowledge, experience, and know-how! We have completed many LSx-based engine retrofits at our facility, and we KNOW what works and what is required to complete the installation!

All TSP engines will include two oil changes worth of Driven Racing break-in oil for no additional cost. Proper break-in oil and procedures for your engine are just as important as the build process! The Driven Racing break-in oil allows for proper ring sealing against the cylinder walls upon start-up, as well as for the break-in period once the engine is up and running. Most off-the-shelf engine oils do not have the necessary ZDDP additives to allow for proper break-in of a new engine, and we want to take every precaution possible to ensure that your new TSP engine receives a proper break-in! We also offer the Driven Racing oil for your new engine once your break-in is complete. We recommend using either the HR2 conventional non-synthetic or the LS30 full synthetic oil. Please note that the Driven Racing LS30 is the ONLY synthetic oil we recommend using in your engine because it retains the necessary ZDDP additives.

Boy, that ought to be a lot of fun. Spent time window shopping on Texas Speed's website, they build just about any LS combo you can imagine. Here's my favorite. http://www.texas-speed.com/p-3964-tsp-427-cid-630-hp-lsx-turn-key-package.aspx Think if we did a group buy we could get 50% off?

Here's a ten year old engine article on Texas Speed, couple pics of the owners getting there hands dirty, a little TSP history there too.

Ron, no supercharger?

Hey Bob,

No super charger,I guess when is it enough? The car will loose weight and have over 600 HP. Once I add the ported fast intake and a Nick Williams ported throttle body I'm sure the engine will make well over 650HP. I'm more of an old school guy anyways, NA is enough for me and my pocket. And really the most fun I have behind the wheel is under 50MPH watching the smoke rolling out of my rear wheel wells. laugh

It's a horrible picture of a picture..... laugh But I have a new 461 Jim Butler performance engine for one the trans am cars on it's way home. It has the cliff ruggles quadrajet on top too with all the supporting mods for the power. This 100% cast iron factory block, head and intake that makes just shy of 500 HP and over 540 foot pounds of torque. It will be in my car looking as a complete stock W72 engine. wink And yes the braided fuel line will be replaced with a correct insulated metal line.

Bob has the truck engine, so I figure we can call this a boat engine.... laugh

In my eyes that sure is a pretty thing, don't know about a boat but what sure look nice sitting in a 68 Firebird, A wolf in sheep's clothing, gotta love it. Those big indians always impress me, real easy to make a lot of real torque. What year Bird is that going in?

Hey Frank, For sure I'll post many pictures of the build. It's nothing crazy though just a clean stock appearing car.

Bob, The bird is a 79 WS6 Trans am, Black exterior red interior and gold decals. It's a high production year which is nice to make a clean driver out of.

I'm sitting in Montreal today on my way home. So I figure I'll get in touch with Speed tech and order my front end parts, New control arms, AFX spindles and coil overs for the front. I ordered the G body frame boxing kit from summit, Hellwig Frame FX Kits . I have room again to start on the new frame. So I took one month off in May from work to get something done on it in the middle of house work.... laugh

I know I'm slow but the plan is coming together and things will ramp up for the lonely G body that is second to my F body interests. I figure why order another engine without the frame done first.

Sweet all the parts are ordered, I just have to wait on the AFX spindles until June. Those guys are really cool (Roger). I can even use my new 4130 heat treated hollow sway bar from Edelbrock which QA1 bought out and now sells under their name.

I got the viking crusader double adjustable shocks with a 500# spring rate. I think those will work just fine for a street car.

AFX are back ordered? I'm tentatively planning to do those at some point this year. I probably should finish a few other projects first though slap beer

Things are coming together now. I have a few parts for the front end. In June the back ordered AFX spindles will be in. I'll order my big brakes in a month or so. Hopefully in two to three months I should have it powder coated ready for the swap.

Control arms from speedtech.

The viking coil overs.

The frame reinforcement plates from Hellwig.

And the fresh frame to cut up.

NICE! I cant wait to see the car finished!

If you need a place to store your stock frame, I have a home for it.

Off topic, but I will be driving past your house next week.

That stock frame might be available? I have to look at the one I have and make sure I don't need to cut a section of that one to improve my new one. As I'm worried about the rear frame rail thickness from prior rust.

Heck we will have to meet up if I'm around? Send me a text with a date.

Crazy but I had the car mostly done once and I pulled it back apart to make it better....

Another morning in Montreal airport....So we know what that means while I eat my breakfast and surf the net....I'll buy some parts laugh. The complete Hooker LS retrofit package today is on my mind! woot This way when I build my new speetech suspension set up I can slap the new engine and trans in and run my exhaust prior to mounting the body.

I bought all the mounting parts. The oil pan will be installed at the engine builder. One thing that changed for the Hooker line up. We can get the baffled drag race / auto cross oil pan now. I will go this route for sure. The headers I will order in a couple months when I get closer to the engine purchase.

The boys have the house for a bit as me and the wife have other places to be these next days. I'll be up in Michigan in about a week buying some parts for Trans am. I'll plan to at the least drive up to you're area once I get this car done for a break in. It wont be until next spring though, I have a lot of work to do & money to spend in the next year building this car.

The last pieces of the puzzle have arrived for the new frame projects front end. I just need to take some vacation time and get some fabrication work done. Then I can order my Z51 corvette brakes and get some new forge line wheels planned out.

Well I'm in Montreal airport today and we know what that means..... wink

Looks Like I'll order the Stainless headers from Holley today.

Damn I in a pickle on my next trip here, I'm at the point where I have to pull the trigger on the engine soon. That will set me back a couple dollars. frown
