I've noticed that the rear defrost is always on when I start the car up. Any ideas what this points to? Not really sure where to start to diagnose this one

You may want to replace the rear defogger switch. If the switch is warm after a few moments, disconnect it all together until you can replace it. you can also check the fuse in the panel to begin the troubleshooting steps.

There is a timer in the system, probably the problem, good luck.
