Hello guys,gals, Happy Fathers day!
I am thinking of doing the jeep cherokeee steering shaft upgrade.
Has anyone done this? I saw the utube video of the guy doing one on his Malibu and it was an easy install although he did not mention grinding anything. I have heard that you need to grind a slot?
Another guy on ebay says he has an Astro shaft that is better than the jeep?
Has anyone done this upgrade and did you have to grind a slot for the bolt and did it make a difference?

For the Jeep shaft you do have to grind a very little bit of a slot with a dremel.

It's no big deal.

I have the Jeep shaft from my Monte that I just sold for sale if you're interested. They work great in improving the feel of the steering input over the stock OEM rag joint.

I will let it go for $50 dollars shipped.

If you're interested in it PM me and I will send you some pics.

Rob

I am emailing with Ken for the past cpl days.
He told me about the Astro shaft as well. Has anyone used that one and if so may I hear who has used the jeep one and who has used the astro one?
I assume they both install the same? Have to grind a spot for both types?

I bought an Astro shaft from Ken, easy install. Small adjustment with a round file.

I've had both on my monte. For spirited street driving, I could not tell any difference between the two. The Astro shaft has a slightly smaller upper end than the jeep shaft, which helps for tight clearances.
