Ok folks, So I am slowly getting closer to my ultimate Monte SS Build.

This round will include the following:

Eforce Supercharged, Forged Internals, Piston Oil Squirters, LSA/LS9

Stage 7 FLT 4L65E With Circle-D Billet Dual Disk Converter

RaceTronix Dual in tank Pumps with Hobs boost switch.

I am having some fitment issues with the larger valve covers, since they are for a boosted application and have larger baffling. As such I am now modifying the Air box, trying my hand and laying some fiberglass..

More Pictures and progress to Come!!

Ooooh!! Does the E Force look like it will fit under the stock hood? I really wanted to go that route, but apparently they have have pretty bad heat soak issues.
Nice stack of upgrades for sure, keep us posted

Nice. Why not use a GM supercharger & what headers you running?

Yes it Does!!! With Roots type Supercharges increased IATs is a big issue and they ALL have this issue.. I am looking into a super chiller that taps into the A/C refrigerant to address this.

I went with the Eforce because One of the main goals was to retain A/C

Couple that with John-B mounts, keeping the stock air/heating box, the desire for a custom look, maximizing supercharger belt wrap, Maximizing supercharger HP capability through custom pulleys. The choice was easier to make to go with these guys.

http://www.wegnerautomotive.com/

I wanted to go with the Heartbeat but pulley options restricted the HP potential.

Testimony from others, as well as this video below sold me on this choice for a supercharger.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R5U5EOeJ92g

The headers are my design delivered by http://www.stainlessheaders.com/

I can install them/remove them without removing the starter, moving the engine as well as any of the surrounding parts. Only item I remove is one bolt that holds in the dipstick.

Very nice, to avoid damaging the evaporator case, I plan to remove the right valve cover and coil pack when dropping my LS3 in.
Sure wish someone like Vintage Air would come up with an aftermarket solution for our AC clearance problems.

Those oil squirters added to a normal block, or is that a block that came from GM that way?

I was curious how well those Holley Valvecovers would fit around the AC Box.

Also, what AC bracket and tensioner is that? I've got a magnacharged LS2 with factory Corvette accessories and an 8-rib Innovators West pulley kit but I cant figure out how to to get the AC to work in conjunction with the ECS tensioner I have. With my old 5.3 and the holley Sanden mount, the AC compressor is right where the tensioner should go. Yours looks like it might work for me..

Thanks! Please Don't be!! As you would not want the bill.. eek

I have been saving and planning this project for about 4 years.

Take a look at this swap (Post 17) Wicked G-body GN LSA/Twin Turbo swap..

http://ls1tech.com/forums/conversions-hybrids/1734236-lsa-grand-national-conversion.html

Looks like there might be something that would work from vintage air. In his signature its described like this: Nick's (Arizona GN) vintage air conversion. So probably some sort of solution the GN folks came up with using a vintage air package.

Yes and no... By this I mean I specifically used the Factory LSA/LS9 block because they do come with factory oil squirters.

However, when stroked the ones that are typically used do not fit.

As such I had to use the squirters from the new Gen 5 LT1

Thanks to all for the kind words.. I will post up some more progress later today.

Thanks!!

On the Holly Valve Covers: I was reading up on the holly valve covers and steered away from them as I found many negative posts for those using them in boosted applications due to the inadequate baffling.

On the Accessories:
The entire Accessory package is a custom set-up from Wegner Automotive. They combine in house machined parts for the alternator and A/C brackets with off the shelf Gates tensioners and a mix of GM Water Pump and other Manufacturers accessories: Sanden for the AC compressor, performance Steering for the PS pump/ Reservoir and Powermaster for the Alt.

It was not cheap, about $2,300 for the Entire Set-up... belts and pulleys All anodized black, Also included the ATI Damper but I really liked how he combined everything in a compact package. Plus, As I get older and have subsequently continued to earn more money, it really comes down to the point of diminishing returns. Do I want to search forever, trying to piece together an accessory package that will work for what I want to do? Or would I be better off paying someone to deliver one.. In short...I love turning wrenches on my own car but hate the "In Search of" game. Sorry as this may not help with your question.

One other item I liked with this package, Since Wegner also makes their own pulleys, the package included a few different supercharger pulley options. So I could play around with the HP a bit.. Anywhere from 600HP to the 800HP range with the pulleys in the attached photo.

Regards,

Matt

I finished making changes to the air box dimensions. Though I am not unfamiliar with body work this was my first attempt at fiberglass.. Although it probably looks like crap in this photo it actually turned out just the way I wanted.

I will post some more photos after I bondo and prime.

Matt

Here is a pic of the Circle D 4L65 LS Pro Series Stage III 265mm converter

With the first LS2 swap, I originally had a combination of the push-in hard lines with rubber hose going to AN barbed fittings on the trans cooler.

This was less than desirable So when I had the trans re-done I purchased AN fittings for the trans cooler inlet and outlet....

Also Pre-Assembled Stainless Fragola lines for the trans cooler supply and return lines

With the First LS swap The Trans cooler worked fine without a fan because it was planted against the Radiator that has Dual Fans.

Now that I will be adding back AC and the condenser, Along with a heat exchanger, they will all need their own separate space along with a fan.

As such, I found this slick thermostat integrated into an AN fitting that coupled with a 10" Flex A lite fan should do the trick to keep it cool.

Bummer, I didnt realize the accessories you have utilize two different belts. That sure makes it nice! I suspect I'll have to do the same at some point. I've already been down the belt slippage road which is why I use the ECS (Ford Powerstroke) tensioner.

This is shaping up to be a great build! Even more than the power, You'll love the TQ that it's going to make.. The only thing I question is the 4L60's ability to handle it.. Any guesstimate HP/TQ numbers for this build? Who will you have tune it? Mine made 580/600 RW on gas at 11 lbs through a T56 and yours is a much more efficient blower so my guess is yours is going to make 620/650ish RW at the same boost. Raunchy!!! grin

Btw, You'll love that converter! I have a Circle D 3200 in my car and wouldn't trade it for anything.

While not a fan of the ls engine allround i really dig the mechanical aesthetics of the pully set up you have there and a few other parts that have come out for them.

I'm not worried about it as Chuck at FLT has lower level transmissions than the beast I had built getting punished with more HP. As to the HP/TQ....From what people are getting out of these, Probably safe to say around the 700 RW range on both. As far as a tuner, I have a base tune to start but will probably go to Straight Line Performance to finish up.

I hear you... I had done some research and they came highly recommended.. Circle D also gave me unsolicited advise regarding the builder that I had already chosen.. It was Chuck at FLT for a 4L65E build that would be more than adequate to hack it..

Thanks, I hear you as I was not a fan initially as well.. For me... However, Once I had one.. I would never go back..

In essence...In addition to less weight, the power, driveability, reliability and near infinite tunability for the engine and trans characteristics, right from your laptop, its such a great foundation. Couple that with the Drive by Wire Throttle Body, and you have a clean install that includes Cruise Control that I can interface with the LS PCM using the stock cruise stalk, all without the under-hood clutter of the stock or even some of the newer manual throttle body setups.

Thanks to all for the kind words..

Regards,

Matt
