Anyone familiar with the YH carter carborator for the corvair? Starts and idles, everything is new from engine rebuild. Converted to igniter electronic ignition. Verified timing at factory specks 24 degrees for the turbo motor. Here is the issue, has no power will only go up to about 1000 rpm at full throttle and that is with no load on the motor. We have the YH carb book and verified everything per it. The idle screw on the base plate they say if ran all the way in and it doesn't kill the motor it's an accelerator pump? Took it all back apart and no issues there either? Verified float setting also. So nothing has changed no matter what. Crazy thing is this carb seems to work opposite of anything I've ever worked with. Thanks for any help.

I've got no help for your problem, but just wanted to say I love corvairs and hope you get it going. Post some pics in the lounge sometime...

Don't have any pictures of it now but I will post them when I get a few. It will be a sweet little ride and we are so close to being done with it that this is where it's frustrating.

try starting it, choke open, and then put your hand over the carb and rev it till it dies, that should clear it up, I read that somewhere years ago about the corvair YH carbs.

Fugued out some of the issues. The throttle not returning was the new boot for the throttle linkage at the fire wall. Hooked up a vacuum gauge and looks like we have a leak? Swapping out the turbo to intake hose because sprayed everywhere else and no increase with the wd40. And it's the number one issues as per turbo corvair guys.

First thing that comes to mind is your high speed circuit in the carb is blocked/clogged. As stated earlier open throttle while it's running and put hand over the throat of the carb or close the choke flap. The high vacuum may pull blockage out of the high speed circuit.
Turning the screw in for idle circuit and the engine doesn't stall would indicate that circuit has a problem also. It has no bearing on the accelerator pump circuit.

Did you also check fuel filter and fuel pump pressure?

Fuel pressure is spot on as per the manual and that was at the fuel inlet for the carb. 1.5-2 lbs.
I was about to eat lunch at work at 11!

Update, got a chance to work on it for about an hour today. Got the turbo moved over a little and helped it line up with the intake. Installed a new turbo hose. Seemed to help it out. Verified time was correct and that the advance was work in the distributor and it was. Then ran out of gas! So pushed it back in the corner of the garage until next time. Good news is it did have throttle response and got it up to about 3000 rpms and the boost comes on quick. Still can't get the idle to the right rpms and it's a little slow to come up on power still.
