has anyone had their stock rims widened ? ive heard it was possible, would love to have a 15x10 for the rear for the track

and have also heard its a bad idea?

Weldcraft also does it. Several guys/gals over at Mercury Marauder board have done it to their Rauder wheels with good results.

hate to be that guy but 520$ a rim seems alittle outrageous, by the time I buy two rears I may as well buy a set of weld bead locks

I had my XXR's widen by Weldcraft and they do and outstanding job. Price depends on hoop and inches added. Google them and get a quote. I currently have another pair of XXR's there. Adding 2" to a 18x10 pair is $435. Not cheap but cheaper than the alternative of forged wheels.
