What have you guys done as far as upgrading the fuel lines for a fuel injection setup? I'm upgrading to a higher pressure/volume fuel pump on my TBI V6 Monte and needing some info in what to replace the stock rubber lines coming off the sending unit with.

I'm finally going to get this thing road worthy after nearly 2 years of sitting.

If you're just wanting to replace the rubber lines at the tank, I'd suggest Gates Barricade low permeable EFI hose.

Original owner of 1985 SS black hardtop w/gray interior. Frame-on restoration - 406 sleeper w/ heavily ported FIRST TPI. However the 1.875" headers, 3.5" duals, TH400, Ford 9", notched frame, and 10-point cage w/swing-out bars might tip you off it's not a lil' ole 305 TPI. Other mods: 2" drop, 18" wheels, f/r disk brakes, and custom stereo system.

Will that stuff stay together on the stock lines with clamps? Or are there fittings to use with it.The new fuel pump will be 55 psi compared to the old tbi pump at max 15. Although it will be regulated at the throttle body around 18-20 psi. Just don't to blow a fuel line apart.

I installed my hose with two Fuel Injection hose clamps at each connection. Been running that way for 5+ yrs with no issues.

I bought a tool for rolling the small "bead" for the hose to fit on, but never got around to using it, so don't know if it will work.

you used the type of hose as linked above? And forgive me but what are fuel injection hose clamps?

Thanks

Mike

I'm sure that hose would work fine. Probably any Fuel Injection rated hose will work, as long as it is good to 70 PSI or greater. The Fuel Injection clamps look like regular screw type hose clamps, but have a complete circumference around the hose where it clamps. Google it, and you will get a bunch of links. I bought mine on Ebay, where you can buy a box of 10 for about the same as 1 at your local auto store.

Fwiw, I left mine on there, 25 years old and all. Mine was low mileage and never saw a lot of the road conditions most cars face, so yours might be different. Somewhere I thought I remembered seeing that the early TBI injection setups were overbuilt because of the pop culture fear of "pressurized gasoline" and even though the system ran at 15 psi, the components were rated close to 100. Now I have no idea if that is fact, and I can't even remember where I heard it from, but I've been running 55 psi on mine for a few years with no issues yet.
Of course, now that I say that, I'll have 27 ruptured fuel lines and leaks next time I start it up...
