I've been wanting one of these for a couple of years now,so today I pulled the trigger;
http://www.abspowerbrake.com/electrichppage.html
It should be mostly bolt on,but may require some mods to the brake lines because there may be different fittings.(Metric to standard).

That website needs some help, lol. The formatting is all gacked up and there is way too much info on the same page. I didn't see a hydroboost setup on there frown

Hi Guy
What made you decide to get one?
Your PM box is full, I had/have a question about importing parts from the states.

Frank,I had read about this system a few years ago and was impressed with what I read.Although I cant remember where I saw the article, but it must have been one of my car mags.I decided that I had to have one,but couldnt afford it until now.It should really help to clean up my engine compartment,as well as supply more vacuum for the brakes than I get now.I emptied my PM box, feel free to ask any questions,I am more than happy to help you if I can.

I'll be curious as to the longevity of such a design. I'm aware of the benefits of using a tried and true hydroboost from Hydratech for example but not as much up to date on an electric pump assisted brake system. I assume there is a pressure switch to cycle up to the required 1200 psi? My question is whether the seals in the aluminum housing will handle the heat generated from the pump having to maintain high system pressures. That's one of the nice things about power steering fluid pressure as a brake assist-the line PSI is always there....providing there no leak of course.

Well Jabin, this product has been around for several years now,so I hope that longevity will be a non-issue.The salseman I ordered it from told me that the pressure is more like 2500 psi.And in case your engine stalls, there is supposed to be up to 20 pumps of the brakes available, whereas the power steering method probably wouldnt have any.
I will know more next year when I get it installed in the spring, but I'm sure hoping it lives up to my expectations...

Cool....I look forward to some real world driving impressions of the unit-I like how compact it is....that's a big plus. Curious, how much does the whole unit weigh?

It should really clean up the engine compartment.
I'll ask the wife for a shipping weight when it arrives.

That's a lot of $$ for added Elec. assist.
In a stall with stock Hydroboost you get 1 stop from the reserve canistor after that it reverts back to Manual brakes, much better than in a stall with a Vac.booster. The Hydro takes some getting used to, short pedal stroke + minimal effort for unreal stopping power.

I've done a few on the cheap swaps. I had a ton of links but most have died.

Instead of hijacking my thread and trying to criticize me just because I make good money and want to spend it as I see fit, maybe you two should do a writeup and post it in the DIY section. That way, anybody could see how to add a hydroboost system to their brakes on a budget.

I finally got started on my hydroboost install yesterday.I got the booster unbolted from the underdash bracket and the master cylinder unbolted from the booster.Next,I need to remove the booster pushrod from the brake pedal.Getting at the brake pedal and bracket is a PITA !!! Small hands would be nice for doing this part LOL.Hope to make more progress today.Forgot my camera yesterday, but I'll take it today.

Made more progress yesterday, got the new master cylinder bolted to the firewall and the high pressure pump mounted to the inner fender. We didnt get the brake lines hooked up yet,the rear brake line is bigger than the front,1/4 in vs. 3/16.Mark wasnt sure how we were going to proceed,so we did a google search and found adapters are available for this situation.Called NAPA and I'm going to pick one up this morning.I'm hoping we get this project finished up today.

The part I am really looking forward to is not having to work the gas, clutch & brake pedal at the same time because there isnt enough vacuum to work the brakes, especially coming down Gallows Hill when the light is red at the bottom and the car is still cold...

I can lock all 4 up at 60 mph with out too much pedal effort, and I have all stock brakes on the car. Certainly a huge improvement over vacuum booster.

im sorry but this seems scary to me.i upgraded to 11 in drums in the rear a while back and they too locked up easier.i got used to it because the car did stop sooner than before but in a panic stop going 65 70 the rear brakes locked up and in an instant i was spinning 180 deg out of control.
needless to say i went back to the 9 in drums.

This is not the case, my braking is very controlled. If it was like your saying I wouldn't have it on my car.

I'm just saying my brakes flat out work like they should. Plus they are always available , unlike my vacuum brake set up since my cam doesn't make a lot of vacuum.

It sounds like you also needed to change your proportioning valve for the bigger rear brakes.
