camshaft sensor ??? - 12/12/15 06:49 PM

Hi guys Today I scanned my car for trouble codes came back as code 41 CAM sensor failure. Do we have a cam sensor in our engines???? If not why would it give me this code?? Is this due to something else that maybe failing. I have a haynes, chilton, and an original gm shop manual. In the haynes manual I find the code 41 that says No distributor reference pulses to ECM with engine running/ it says the problem could be poor electrical connection, open or short in circuit, defective distributor pick up coil: fault in the MAP or VAC sensor circuit. In the GM Service manual it states No distributor reference signal. I did a real time data scan monitored MAP sensor the sensor volts charged during acceleration so I am guessing MAP sensor is ok? Thank you for your help ED

Go by what you first stated.
No there is no cam sensor, it's directing you to the distributor.

Usually it has to do with the plug wires to close to the big wire harness from the distributor to the ecm.
